Today our Contiki tour began.
We got up and packed our room. Miriam met everyone from Canada for breakfast. I didn't particularly want to go and neither did Bec.
Just after 10, Alissa showed up to pick up Miriam. She was kind enough to drop us off near our meeting place for Contiki. That was a huge help. Our bags weighed a lot because of all the food we had previously purchased.
Meeting the group was nice. We got on the bus and our leader, Sarah, yaked at us for the entire two hour duration of the bus ride. She had mentioned that we had to pick our optional activities at that moment. Becky and I picked some cost efficient, interesting activities.
We reached our first stop, Waitomo. This place if famous for their glow worm caves. The bus pulled into a really cute hostel called 'kiwi paka'. It just happened to be across the street from the school/weapons testing site. Weirdest combo ever.
Becky and I went on a tour of the glow worm caves. It as lead by a pretty funny woman in a great hat.
The worms were pretty neat. It was surreal to look at them because they looked like man-made Christmas lights planted on the ceilings of the caves.
We returned to the hostel, had a rest, and dinner. Then we went to the bar for some drinks and a meet and greet. Everyone seems super nice.
